A diet or exercise plan is doomed to failure unless it becomes a "lifestyle" change.
I'm pretty sure we have already experienced that this kind of radical change is hard to achieve.
Here's what I found helpful to keep me focused and committed until my desire to lose weigh and eating right became a habit.
- FIND A DEEP PURPOSE asking yourself: "Why do I really want to lose weight"? We need to ask ourselves "why" again and again because this question becames the foundation of our commitment. The answer to this "key" question is our GOAL.
I'm motivated towards pleasures (looking great in small size dresses/jeans, having better chances to socialize, hearing other people being well impressed by me...), maybe you can be motivated away from pain (being unwanted, having to start medical treatments for diabetes or heat disease,...); find out which one- "Towards Pleasure" or "Away From Pain"- is a more compelling motivation and commit youself to this goal.
As a second step, try to immagine how your life can change in better, how you can be happier as a result of your resolution to change lifestyle. Then think how your health can deteriorate, how sick and tired you'll be to feel sick and tired...
Always, always ask yourself "why" and remember your deeper purpose during the day.
This is necessary to take action, to decide to change your feeding habits and your lifestyle!
- CREATE A CHART in order to keep track of your daily progress: be proud of yourself!
- If you’re having a hard time keeping focused, face yourself in the mirror. It’s about being honest with yourself. Yes, I need to get healthy. No, I really don’t want to paste that slice of cake to the side of my thighs only because I'm bored, not hungry. No, I don't want to make my weight loss journey any longer…
-Share your feelings and thoughts, your progress and your fears with people who REALLY care about you and your health.
These are NOT some more words to finish the post; this is TRUE in my experience (and absolutely I'm not better than you): IF WE REALLY WANT, WE CAN DO IT!!
